Safety limit switches

Here you can find our comprehensive product portfolio of safety limit switches which is constantly being refined and covers a wide range of different functional variants, compositions and technical specifications.

On this page you will also find information on the types of safety switches, the areas of application and much more.

WHAT IS A SAFETY LIMIT SWITCH?

Safety limit switches are used for the safety in the cooperation of man and machine. Industrial plants and machines can quickly become dangerous, for example, if the power supply to dangerous machine parts is not properly interrupted or machines cannot be stopped. Safety switches detect the exact position of machine parts and stop machines immediately in an emergency. The power supply can also be interrupted by the use of safety limit switches, for example when servicing a machine.

Another example is the door of a machine fence, which, if equipped with a safety limit switch, automatically interrupts the power circuit of the machine and thus switches it off as soon as the door is opened. In general, safety limit switches may be such that they have to be operated manually or are already integrated in a device or machine. In the first case, the machine is switched off on command, in the second automatically.

Safety limit switches can be found in various industries where machines are used. In the field of automation, safety limit switches can be found in the food industry, packaging technology, but also in the automotive industry.

Our extensive product range in the area of safety limit switches includes safety limit switches with separate actuator, electromagnetic safety limit switches with separate actuator, safety hinges, hinge mount safety limit switches, safety magnetic sensors, safety modules, safety limit switches with rope and safety limit switches with reset.

We would like to present two of our safety switches in more detail.

Safety Limit Switches with separate actuator

They are ideal for monitoring and protecting industrial machines without moment of inertia, where the shutdown time is less than the access time to the hazardous area. Safety limit switches with separate actuator are used to protect operators working on dangerous machines and to open the control circuit. Removing the actuator from the limit switch by opening the movable safety guard results in an immediate standstill of the machine.

In addition, easy-to-operate electromechanical safety switches with separate actuator offer the following advantages:

  • Capability for strong current switching (conventional thermal current 10 A).
  • Opening guaranteed of the "N.C." contact(s) when the small latch is withdrawn from the limit switch.
  • Contact blocks with dependent action and positive opening operation of the "N.C." normally closed contact(s) (symbol ).
  • Electrically separated contacts.
  • Precision on operation positions (consistency).
  • Immunity to electromagnetic disturbances.

ACTUATORS FOR SAFETY SWITCHES WITH SEPARATE ACTUATOR ARE FOR EXAMPLE:

electromagnetic safety limit switches with separate actuator

Unlike the safety limit switch with separate actuator, this type of device is used to ensure the safety of the operator on machines where a certain hazardous condition can be prolonged after the activation of the machine stop command, such as by inertia of moving mechanical parts or by the presence of parts in temperature or vacuum.

PLEASE NOTE: When used alone, this device is not suitable for use on machines where the operator can enter a fully fenced area, as accidental fence closures may occur after the operator has entered the area.

ACTUATORS FOR ELECTROMAGNETIC SAFETY LIMIT SWITCHES WITH SEPERATE ACTUATOR ARE FOR EXAMPLE:

  • Bent key
  • Flat key
  • Shock absorbing bent key
  • Shock absorbing flat key
  • Adjustable joint key
